It’s that time of year already! Kids are going back to school, teachers are gearing up for another year and parents are trying to keep up with new requirements and routines. It can be chaotic and the summer seems to go by faster and faster each year for families and teachers. Getting organized and set up for the new year can help the transition easy and efficient. Now is the time to implement some of the back to school tips below.

    Tips to Get Organized For Back to School

    • Create a command center or drop zone for kids bags and coats
    • Designate a space for school papers that need action and school papers to archive
    • Make a plan for displaying school work or art for each child – where will they live and how often will you change them out
    • Write down everyone’s bedtime and morning routine and practice the week before school starts
    • It helps to use pictures or graphics for children who can’t read
    • Designate a family meeting time each week to plan/coordinate activities, logistics and meals
    • Tidy up the kids bedrooms so they know where to find all the items needed to get dressed in the morning
    • Like the bedroom organize the kids bathrooms so they have everything they need to get ready for school and get ready for bed
    • Keep a family calendar that is visible for everyone to see so everyone is on the same page
    • Label everything – any items going to school and everything at home
    • Clean out your car to get ready for school activities
    • Plan some easy go to meals that can be staples during the school year
    • Create a space in the fridge and pantry for lunch and snack items to make packing lunches easy
