I’ve been there myself, caught in the whirlwind of endless to-do lists, inner criticism, and the perpetual postponement of personal joys. It’s a familiar scenario, isn’t it? When asked how you’re doing, words like “swamped” or “drowning” spill out effortlessly. The weight of responsibilities, from work to parenting to maintaining relationships, can be crushing, even with a supportive network.

So, what happens when overwhelm sets in? For me, it led to paralysis. The feeling of being unable to move forward, of not knowing where to start, was suffocating. So, I resorted to treading water, barely keeping afloat by attending to the essentials, albeit at the last minute. It’s like living in a perpetual state of fight or flight, surviving each day but never truly thriving. If this sounds familiar, know that I understand. Truly. Enter toxic positivity, urging us to plaster on a smile and soldier on, ignoring the underlying issues.
