Hi Friends!

As the leaves start to change and the cool air sweeps in, life can get busier for moms. With school back in full swing, extracurricular activities picking up, and the holiday season just around the corner, finding a moment for yourself can feel impossible. Sometimes, it can be helpful to take a bird’s-eye view of your life and how you’re operating. While it may feel impersonal to assess things in this way—after all, our lives are messy, emotional, and heart-driven—it can be extremely effective to approach certain aspects like a CEO running a company. CEOs ask questions like: Are we meeting our goals and priorities? Can we save time by bringing in help or outsourcing? Do we have proactive habits and procedures in place? What rules or policies help things run smoothly? And, crucially, how are we supporting our employees to take care of themselves and do their best work? (Okay, maybe not every CEO is asking that last question—but they should be!) These simple strategies can help you answer similar questions in your own life and create positive, lasting changes for you and your family.

1. Set a Daily Top 3

Instead of trying to tackle everything at once, focus on identifying your top three priorities for each day. By narrowing your focus, you’ll be able to make real progress without feeling overwhelmed. Whether it’s a work task, a household chore, or personal time, getting your top three tasks done each day can help you feel more in control and accomplished.

Tip: Write down your top 3 tasks the night before or first thing in the morning so you can start the day with a clear plan.

2. Outsource Small Tasks

You don’t have to do it all! Fall is a perfect time to start delegating or outsourcing small tasks that take up too much of your day. If laundry is taking too much time, consider hiring a laundry service or assigning it to older kids. Grocery delivery or pickup is another time-saver that can free up valuable hours. Even having a trusted organizer come in to streamline your home’s systems can cut hours of chaos from your weekly routine.

Tip: Make a list of small, repetitive tasks that drain your energy and explore creative ways to outsource or automate them.

3. Implement “Sunday Set-Up” Sessions

Dedicate time every Sunday to preparing for the week ahead. This can be a 1–2 hour session where you meal prep, lay out clothes for the week, organize the family’s schedule, and set your home up for success. This small investment of time upfront can save hours of decision fatigue and last-minute scrambling throughout the week.

Tip: Involve the family by assigning everyone a task. This not only lightens your load but also teaches kids about responsibility and planning.

4. Use the 2-Minute Rule

Throughout the day, there are countless tasks that can be completed in two minutes or less, but we often put them off. Whether it’s responding to a quick email, wiping down the counter, or making a doctor’s appointment, completing these small tasks immediately prevents them from piling up and becoming overwhelming.

Tip: If a task will take two minutes or less, do it right away. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter your mental load feels when these small things are taken care of in the moment.

5. Establish Daily “White Space”

One of the best ways to reclaim your time is by building intentional “white space” into your day. This is time with no commitments, no tasks, and no to-dos. Even if it’s just 15 minutes in the morning for quiet reflection or 30 minutes in the evening to unwind, this time is critical for your mental health and energy. By protecting this time, you’ll feel more refreshed and capable of tackling everything else on your list.

Tip: Schedule your white space like any other important meeting or appointment. It’s non-negotiable!
